You Can Find Whatever It Is You're Looking For At This St. Anthony Shrine

It is that time of the year again: It is time for everyone's favorite saint's Feast Day!

That's right: St. Anthony's Feast Day is June 13th!

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1195, he first joined the Augustinian order, but later became a Franciscan after being inspired by the martyrdom of Franciscans in Morocco.

He quickly gained a reputation as a gifted speaker and was sent across Italy and France to preach and teach. He died at just 36 years old in 1231 in Padua, Italy, where his tomb became a major pilgrimage site. St. Anthony was canonized less than a year after his death, and in 1946, he was declared a Doctor of the Church.

In honor of the great St. Anthony, we invite you to take a pilgrimage in his honor:

Welcome to the aptly-named St. Anthony Shrine.

Located in Boston, St. Anthony Shrine is billed as a "sacred space in the heart of downtown Boston where all are welcome."

Opened in 1947, the St. Anthony Shrine is operated by the Franciscan friars of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe and welcomes pilgrims from both near and far looking to deepen their faith.
