Los Angeles is Home to the Historic St. Thomas the Apostle Church

It's hard to believe it is the end of another month, so why don't we go out on a high note: With a pilgrimage in honor of St. Thomas the Apostle!

St. Thomas, also known as “Doubting Thomas,” was one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus. He’s most famously remembered for questioning the resurrection until he saw the risen Christ for himself, at which point he proclaimed, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28). This moment has made him a relatable figure for many, showing that doubt can lead to deeper faith.

According to tradition, after Pentecost, Thomas traveled far beyond the Roman Empire to preach the Gospel and is believed to have brought Christianity to India, where he ministered, established Christian communities, and was eventually martyred for his faith.

In honor of St. Thomas the Apostle's Feast Day on July 3rd, we present to you his namesake parish in Los Angeles:

Opened on Christmas Day 1904, St. Thomas the Apostle has long been the place for worship in the City of Angels - and for a great reason.

On a mission to "bring the presence of God to our community with the preaching of the Gospel message and our participation in the Sacramental life of the Church," St. Thomas does just that through its ministries and parish life.

Parishioners and pilgrims alike are invited to partake in all that St. Thomas has to offer, beginning with mass, adoration, and confession.

Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle is celebrated Monday to Friday at 7:30 a.m. (Bilingual) and 5:30 p.m. (Spanish), Saturday at 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. (both Spanish), and Sunday at 6:30 a.m., 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7 p.m. (all Spanish, minus the Bilingual mass at 9:30).

In addition to mass, you are invited to St. Thomas' many special events, including a monthly Night of Encounter, feast day celebrations, and more!
