The Shrine of St. Bernadette Is a Must-Visit Pilgrimage Site in Albuquerque

Lent is in full swing, and Easter is just around the corner, but before we celebrate the resurrection of Christ, we have many Feast Days to celebrate, including St. Bernadette.

St. Bernadette Soubirous, whose Feast Day is celebrated on April 16th, is best known for her visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lourdes, France. In 1858, at the age of 14, Bernadette experienced a series of apparitions of a “beautiful lady” at a grotto in Lourdes. The lady, later identified as Mary, asked for prayers, penance, and the construction of a chapel at the site.

Despite skepticism and questioning, Bernadette remained firm in her testimony. The spring that emerged at the grotto became a source of healing, and Lourdes is now one of the world's most famous Catholic pilgrimage sites.

Let us now honor this great saint by making a pilgrimage to her shrine in Albuqureque, New Mexico:

Founded in 1959, the Shrine of St. Bernadette boasts a close relationship with the Rector of the Shrine of Lourdes and the Diocese of Nevers, France, making it a genuinely unique parish.

When you visit, you can deepen your relationship with Christ through adoration, confession, and other spiritual activities.

Just like St. Bernadette experienced Marian apparatians and other life-altering experiences, you are invited to deepen your faith and relationship with God at this peaceful parish.
