St. Catherine of Siena Parish Is The Definition of a Southern Treasure

St. Catherine of Siena's Feast Day is April 29th, so you know what that means...

It's time to make a pilgrimage!

But first, let us briefly reflect on St. Catherine of Siena and what makes her so unique:

Born in 1347 in Siena, Italy, St. Catherine - a 14th-century mystic, theologian, and reformer - felt called to religious life from a young age. Though her parents wanted her to marry, Catherine instead devoted herself entirely to God, living in prayer, fasting, and service to the poor.

Despite having no formal education, St. Catherine became a powerful voice in both Church and political affairs, working tirelessly to heal divisions within the Church (and even persuading Pope Gregory XI to return the papacy to Rome from Avignon).

Her profound spiritual writings, including The Dialogue, earned her recognition as a Doctor of the Church. She died in 1380 at 33 but left a lasting legacy of faith, courage, and devotion to Christ.

Without further ado, we give you the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Kennesaw, Georgia:

Established in 1981, St. Catherine of Siena was formed to answer a prayer: to provide a new parish for the growing Catholic population in northwest Georgia.

In its 40+ years, St. Catherine's has grown into one of the region's largest and most thriving parishes, making it the perfect place to visit, pray, and make a pilgrimage.

When you visit, you will be greeted by the parish's incredibly welcoming and friendly parishioners, as well as opportunities for mass, adoration, Wednesday Holy Hours, First Fridays, and Saturday Devotions.

Mass at St. Catherine's is celebrated Monday to Friday at 6:45 a.m. and 9 a.m., Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and Sunday at 7:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 2 p.m. (Spanish), and 4:30 p.m.

Depending on when you visit, you may also get to partake in one of St. Catherine's many special events, including parish movie and picnic nights, concerts, lectures, and more.
